Ctrl
——————————————————————————
”Ctrl” was the team capstone project at my university. We had a team of five game designers trying to model a prototype game after one that was already released. My team chose Remedy’s “Control”. As an individual, I got to design and implement a few player mechanics, environmental mechanics, and two unique levels. Then as a team, we had to integrate all our levels, assets, and mechanics into a single experience.

In this video, I’m showcasing the rooftop level I made, along with some of the environmental mechanics I made. These include the doors, ledge climb, the snapping bridge pieces to build a bridge, the radio voice over hints, the elevator, the turrets, the falling scaffolding, and the power-on switch at the end.
Here’s a quick video showing the radio voice over hints. I designed these to help the player with audio hints when necessary. I created the radio SFX that plays before and after the message, processed the vocals to sound like they are coming through a radio, and had a radio icon appear on the HUD for the message duration.
This is a video showing one of my level mechanics being tested before bringing it into the level. I have it set to begin rumbling as soon as the player steps onto it. The platform then start to slowly slide off the side of the building, and when it reaches a certain point, breaks apart and falls to the floor. The player is meant to climb up the scaffolding quickly to reach the top of the building before it falls.
